Software Engineer and Game Developer

About me

My name is Dan and I'm a software engineer and game developer. I've always loved tinkering with computers and playing video games, and those two things were what led to me completing a degree in games programming from 2013 to 2016. Since 2016 I've been working professionally as a full-stack software engineer while working on game-related projects in my spare time. My long term goal is to publish my first complete game, something which I am actively working on.

You can see my professional experience by visiting my online CV and a fairly comprehensive list of most of the projects I've worked on (professionally and otherwise) over at my portfolio.

Games I enjoy

I enjoy a wide array of games, but my favourite games tend to be either very narrative-focused games (this includes both linear story games and CRPG's with lots of branching dialogue) or systems driven immersive sims. Bonus points if a game is both! I also really love post-apocalyptic settings for some reason. Some of my favourite games (in no particular order) are:

  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R

  • METRO 2033

  • Fallout 1/2

  • Pillars of Eternity

  • Prey (2017)

  • Dishonored

  • Deus Ex

  • The Witcher

  • Half Life 2

  • Portal 2

  • The Last of Us

  • Uncharted

  • Mass Effect 1

  • Knights of the Old Republic

Platforms I play on

You'll mostly find me playing on PC, but I own a lot of consoles as well. In particular I own a Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch to give me access to platform exclusives, but I own lots of older consoles as well including an NES, Megadrive, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, etc.
