Shape The World was developed as part of the Stay Safe! Jam, a 48-hour game jam at the end of March 2020 with a theme of solidarity. The game jam was organised as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, to encourage people to stay at home and be creative.
Rather than making a game with a lot of overt references to the pandemic, we opted to make a minimalist game with mechanics that were symbolic of the idea behind solidarity - people working together towards a mutual interest. The design we came up with was a puzzle game with simple geometric shapes, each with their own abilities and weaknesses, needing to each do their bit to reach the other side.
The project was developed using Unity3D and C#, and is playable in a web browser using HTML5. I worked mainly on the movement for the spring character, as well as the menus and level progression. Overall the project took around a day of development time.
